Magical "Wilding Theatre" enchants students at Lowther
Local primary school sudents from Shap CE School and Lowther Endowed School were treated to a unique and unforgettable experience last week as part of Cumbria Connect’s arts and nature initiative.
Miscreations Theatre brought their captivating “Wilding Theatre” production to the grounds of Lowther Castle, transforming part of the North Park into a stage for a truly special community event.
Undeterred by the pouring rain, the children embarked on a captivating ecological odyssey. The park came alive with laughter and wonder as Miscreations Theatre brought stories of nature’s struggles, resilience and the vital importance of wild spaces. Towering puppets, whimsical clowns and heartfelt songs resonated with the young audience, fostering a lasting appreciation for the environment.
The undisputed highlight of the event was the awe-inspiring giant curlew puppet, which gracefully roamed the castle grounds, capturing the imaginations of all who witnessed its majestic stride.
“The performance was a delightful blend of humour and creativity, perfectly capturing our students’ attention. It resonated with the environmental issues they’re learning about in class, sparking their imaginations and igniting a passion for the world around them.”
Katie Chappell, Head Teacher at Shap CE Primary
“Exhilarated doesn’t even begin to describe the children’s energy after the play! They sang and splashed in puddles all the way back to school, still buzzing from the magic.”
Carla Weild, Head Teacher at Lowther Endowed School
